Post Treatment Guidelines:

My treatment of craniopathy and coccyx release may be  regarded as quite a subtle technique.  Although the work may be subtle, it is very effective and basically changes the entire biomechanics of your spine and cranial bones (the bones of the skull, face and mouth).

As such, you can expect to be stiff and sore for several days after treatment.

Suggestions:

Post Treatment – allow yourself to take it easy for a couple of days.  Your body is rearranging itself from an old pattern it is used to and must realign to a new unfamiliar position.  This causes resistance and soft tissue aches and pains as the bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments learn their new position and adjust.

Cranial patients – one can expect a headache to last for one or two days.  The plates of the skull have to unlock and slowly slide to their desired position. This process may bring on a temporary headache.

Coccyx or tailbone patients – The coccyx holds a considerable amount of emotional tension.  After an adjustment of the coccyx, one’s emotions may be released.  Feelings of vulnerability, weepiness, fatigue and/or sensitivity may be experienced.  These feelings will pass in a day or two and the patient may experience feelings of more balance.

The following will help the adjustment process:

Short term:

  • Hot soaking baths with Epsom Salts added to the water
  • Ladies, leave the high heels at home for a few days; wear flat shoes
  • Take breaks during the day while working.
  • If sitting – walk around for a bit.
  • If standing, have a seated rest etc.

Long Term:

  • Do not sleep on your stomach.  This position causes one to turn the neck to the side for long periods, thus causing spinal strain.
  • Ideally sleep on your side or back.
  • If sleeping on your side, tuck a pillow between your knees as this will support the spine whilst sleeping and is very comfortable.
  • Invest in a cervical or orthopedic pillow.  This allows the neck to remain in a neutral position (not flexed, i.e., tilted forward as in a normal pillow), thus supporting the spine.

Maintenance Care:

As explained during the course of treatment, chronic and acute problems typically require 3 – 5 adjustments to right themselves.

Once righted, the body readily benefits from a tune up every 3 – 4 months.  This assists in maintaining the body balance, allowing for dissipation of stress and enhancement of general health.
